About Us

Wild & Free Homestead was built at the intersection of experience, service, and care for both animals and the people who raise them.

Long before this homestead existed, the work began in veterinary medicine—years spent in small animal care, learning what it means to advocate for animals and support families during moments that mattered. That path eventually led into military service, where communication, education, and community became central skills. As a public affairs specialist and photojournalist, the role wasn’t just to tell stories—but to translate complex information clearly, honestly, and with responsibility.

An injury brought that chapter to an abrupt close. But it didn’t end the calling.

Today, Wild & Free Homestead exists to care for you—the farmer, the homesteader, the family doing their best to raise animals well and live more intentionally. Here, Cream Legbar chickens are raised not for novelty or blue-egg profit, but for education and ethical breeding, with the goal of correcting the quality issues that come from careless selection. Dexter cattle are bred and managed with the same intention: sound genetics, thoughtful husbandry, and respect for the animal.

Alongside breeding work, natural artificial insemination services are offered for those who prefer to avoid hormone-based protocols and want a more holistic approach to herd improvement. This work is rooted in observation, timing, nutrition, and respect for the animal—not shortcuts.

The journey toward a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree is ongoing, taken deliberately and without rush. Experience matters. Education matters. The goal isn’t speed—it’s competence, confidence, and depth of understanding, especially in livestock medicine, where access to large-animal veterinarians continues to decline.

In time, Wild & Free Homestead will offer virtual and in-person education focused on practical self-sufficiency: real livestock skills, real decision-making, and real preparation for emergencies that happen on farms every day. Not to replace veterinarians. Not to turn anyone into one. But to help people feel steadier, more capable, and less alone when something goes wrong.

This work has never been about money. It’s about support. Money comes and goes. Provision has always followed where the work was honest.

Most people choose a homestead because they want a cleaner, quieter, more intentional life—but not everyone has the capacity or access to formal veterinary education. So the goal here is simple: bring skills to you. Skills that help you care for your animals responsibly. Skills that help you stay calm when emergencies arise. Skills that give you confidence without ego.

Why?
Because someone helped me. Now it’s my turn to help the next one in line.
